Imphal, November 25 2015: Irate locals today thrashed a 28-year-old newly married woman, who has been accused of murdering her six-year-old step daughter at Cheirap Court complex.

The incident happened when a police team of Irilbung police station brought Thiyam Ibemcha (28) w/o Reagan of Thiyam Konjin Mamang Leikai to produce her before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East.

Since morning, a large crowd including womenfolk gathered near the Court complex after getting information of Ibemcha's Court appearance.

Cops rescuing the accused from the irate people

As soon as a team of around five police personnel brought her to the Court complex from Irilbung police custody at around 2.40 pm, the crowd surrounded the police vehicle and thrashed her badly.

As the crowd could easily overpower the police team, they kept on giving blows to the accused for some minutes.

Even as the police tried to pull the accused out of the crowd, some locals even tore the clothes of Ibemcha.

Later, she was guided towards the Court room by the police team.

After reaching the Court room, CJM Imphal East Aribam Noutuneshwari Devi gave her shawl to Ibemcha as her clothes were badly torn by the crowd.

The prosecution pleaded the Court to remand Ibemcha to judicial custody for allegedly murdering her step daughter.

After perusing the arguments of the prosecution, the Court remanded Ibemcha to judicial custody till December 9 .

Before the accused was brought out of the Court room, a large police team including women personnel led by Imphal police station OC Dinesh, Irilbung police station OC Sarat pushed back the irate crowd who held placards and shouted slogans against Ibemcha.

She was later taken away to the judicial custody by the police safely.

It may be mentioned that the incident of alleged murder occurred at her residence on November 20 .

Irilbung police arrested her the next day and detained her at the police station till today.

In a meeting held some days back, Social Welfare Educational and Cultural Association, Thiyam Konjin had banished the accused from the locality.

Ibemcha appeared before the Court under FIR case number 103 (11) 2015 of Irilbung police station under Section 309 and 34 IPC today.
