Imphal, October 22 2021: Governor La Ganeshan visited HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) at Mantripukhri today.

The Governor was received by Major General Alok Naresh, Inspector General Assam Rifles who briefed him on the role and contribution of the Assam Rifles to maintain peace and tranquillity in Manipur.

An update on civic actions undertaken by the Force to assist the people of the State was also given, said PRO of IGAR (S) in a press statement.

The Governor also interacted with the officers and troops of the formation and encouraged them to continue their good work and excellent service to the Nation.

The Governor paid homage to the fallen soldiers at the memorial by laying a wreath in their honour, the statement said.

Thereafter he felicitated war veterans/ex-servicemen for their service to the Nation and Veer Naris for their sacrifices for the country, it added.

The Governor also distributed prizes to meritorious school children for their excellent academic performance even during the difficult times of COVID-19 pandemic, the statement continued.
