Imphal Hub wins big at WEF do

Imphal, July 11 2024:
In one of the most competitive events under the World Economic Forum from over 500 cities across 100 countries, a project called " Multiplying Smiles" by the Global Shapers Imphal (GSI) hub won the most coveted prize over several innovative projects from across the world.
The award carries a financial value of 5000 Swiss Franc (about Rs 5 lakh) .
Through this project, GSI is looking to set up libraries, stocking them with books, and incorporating digital platforms to enhance facilities in relief camps.
The initiative seeks to provide children in these camps not only with academic resources but also storybooks to engage them in constructive activities.
The library at Sajiwa relief camp, inaugurated on July 7, 2024 by Khumanthem Diana Devi, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East, is a testament, said GSI adding that the project is now being planned for expansion in more relief camps across the entire State and also in some dedicated Government schools.
Ms.Zuicy Beauty who is the present curator of the Imphal Hub is currently in Geneva to attend the annual conference where the Award was declared today.
She was also selected as a penal member to speak on the project and how it will impact the children.
It may be noted that The Global Shapers Community Imphal hub was inaugurated in September 2015 as the 450th Hub under the World Economic Forum with the Armstrong Pame as the founding Curator.
This is a group of young professionals below the age of 33 years coming together to bring changes in the society by doing things beyond their day to day job.
Some of the notable works have been raising fund to reconstruct the 2016 earthquake hit Kabui Khullen village, raising funds to procure Oxygen cylinders during Covid, conducting several career counselling events across different parts of the State, being one of the forerunners in the project planting trillion trees in Asia.
In 2023, one of its projects that was executed together with DC Imphal East called "Bleed with Pride" won the Prime Minister's Award for Good Governance for Imphal East District.
