Imphal, May 11 2010: Separate teams of national leaders of BJP and CPI are arriving in Imphal in the next few days to take stock of the situation in the state arising out of the permission given to NSCN (IM) general secretary, Th Muivah to enter the state by the Union government.

A team of CPI national leaders led by AB Bardhan will be arriving in Imphal within the next few days to assess the tension over the proposed visit of the rebel leader in Manipur where the ceasefire between the NSCN(IM) and GoI does not cover.

State secretary of CPI, Langoljam Iboyaima, talking to reporters today, said that the party took the matter of Muivah's visit seriously.

As per resolution passed by the executive meeting held on May 6 last, the party had requested Prime Minister, Manmohon Singh through its national secretary AB Bardhan to ask Muivah to withdraw his proposed visit to the state.

A team led by AB Bardhan will arrive here in Imphal soon and will hold talks with representatives of the NGOs and other civil societies with the objective of bringing an end to the prevailing crisis.

The state council will also hold a meeting at Kuki Inn on Thursday (May 13) to discuss the matter that the existing boundary of the states in the North East region, a priority commitment of the party.

The decision of the Centre to allow Muivah to enter the state without prior consultation with the state government was a totally wrong step as Muivah's intention is to disintegrate Manipur's territorial boundary as well as to disturb the scheduled elections to the Autonomous District Council in the hill districts.

The CPI also expressed shock over the mob violence at Mao gate that claimed two youths and injured to several others.

At this juncture, a concerted effort of the people to live in harmony is very must, CPI feels, he said.

MLA N Mangi, taking part in the briefing, said that Manipur is a state where different communities settle together.

The state does not belong to any particular community.

CPI always supports the people in their voice against disturbing the territorial integrity of the state.

For the sake of state integrity, the party can even sacrifice the post of MLAs.

The ceasefire with the NSCN(IM) is only in Nagaland and the ground rules of the peace talk do not cover other states.

Despite knowing all these facts, the Centre's decision to allow Muivah to enter the state was an unfortunate, imperfect and immature one.

Meanwhile, a three-member committee formed by the BJP at the Centre will be coming to Manipur to look into the state situation on May 13 (Thursday), a source from the BJP, Manipur Pradesh said today.

The BJP has formed a committee, appointed by BJP president Nitin Gadkari, comprising Prakash Javadekar, Tarun Vijay and party MP Bijoya Chakravarty.

The committee will discuss the situation with civil society activists, party workers and police and government officials.

The delegation will back to the national capital on May 14 and give its report to Gadkari an agency report said adding that the delegation will also meet Home Minister P Chidambaram before submitting its report.

"The permission given by central government to Naga leader Thuingaleng Muivah to visit his hometown in Manipur has already resulted in two deaths and a bandh (strike).

Corruption of Ibobi (Singh) government has crossed all limits.

Misuse of security forces resulting in extortion and fake encounters has infuriated people in Manipur," the BJP said.
