CCC to monitor education system soon: Education Minister

Noney, February 04 2023: The Command and Control Centre which is designed to monitor education system in Manipur will be functional soon, said Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh.

He said this while inaugurating a newly constructed building of the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) at Longmai Part-III, Noney district.

The building was constructed at a cost of Rs 4,25,11,135 .

The 30-room building (G-plus) includes water supply and sanitary rooms constructed with Engineering Wing, Education (S) Department as the implementing agency under State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) .

MLA Nungba AC Dinganlung Gangmei and Education Commissioner H Gyan Prakash were present at the inaugural function.

After the inaugural function, the Minister also attended a public function held at the Multipurpose Hall, Longmai Part-III, Noney district Hqs.

The program was attended by Joseph Pauline Kamson, Deputy Commissioner, Noney and Meiduan Gangmei, Khullakpa of Longmai village, among others.

Speaking at the event, Th Basanta Kumar said like in the State of Gujarat, the Command and Control Centre to monitor the education system will soon become operational in Manipur too.

The implementation of the New Education Policy is progressing and advancing in Manipur, he said.

Th Basanta Kumar said Graduate teachers' recruitment results will be out within this month and it will help solve the problem of shortage of teachers in the State.

The education sector is facing three big challenges including shortage of teachers, poor infrastructure and issues relating to transfer and posting.

There are more than 7000 vacant posts of teachers.

This shortage of teachers is because there was no recruitment in the last 10 years, he said, assuring that there are great changes coming in the next two years in the education sector.

The Minister said he is "ready to resign" if the assurance is not fulfilled.

The Minister also said that multicolour uniforms for the students like in private schools will be introduced in Government schools.

Computers and tablets are also being distributed to Government teachers and students to improve teaching and learning.

He also assured the people that the newly inaugurated DIET Centre of Noney will be functioning soon and teachers required will be recruited, once cleared for opening.

The Minister also distributed sports kits to school students and interacted with them.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of Hill Areas Committee MLA Dinganlung Gangmei said that the Government's War on Drugs should be supported by the people of Noney district.

The event witnessed various cultural programmes.

Th Basanta Kumar Singh, who also holds the portfolio of Law also visited the construction site of District Court Complex at Rangkhung Part-I .

He also instructed the officials and contractors to expedite the construction work before the onset of monsoon season.
