The Congress party takes the decision taken to suspend CMHT benefits in private hospitals very seriously he said.
Saying the poor families have been relying on CMHT to get treatment facilities at both private and Government hospitals since the launching of the scheme, he added that the Government's decision to delist private hospitals from CMHT scheme amid the unrest is unfortunate as it will affect the poor families.
Manipur currently is one of the leading States in terms of inflation rate and the State has also been witnessing economic downturn due to the unrest, Bupenda said and added that suspending CMHT benefits in private hospitals was against the interest of the people.
All people want to get treatment facility at private hospitals as the infrastructure of Government hospi- tals in Manipur is not upto the mark, the Congress spokesperson continued, Stating that building a better health care system is imperative if the Government wants to protect the indigeneous people, Bupe-nda opined that coverage of CMHT should be expanded instead by giving the benefits of the scheme to more people.
The Government should refrain from causing more distress to the people who are already suffering due to unavailability of cooking gas and escalating prices of essential items, he said.
Bupenda also said that the Cabinet decision to hand over the management of Manipur Milk Producers' Co-Operative Union Ltd to National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for three years starting from October 1 is unfortunate.
He asked why the union which has been running by the cattle farming society based in Manipur should be handed over to the NDDB.
Assisting is another thing but handing over the entire management of the union to NDDB is not a good idea, he said.
