Poll booklet of Ram Muivah released

With an aim to help the public know him better, Ram Muivah who is running for the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly elections 2022, has come up with a booklet which sheds light on his life story.
In his 35 years of career as an Indian Administrative Officer, Ram Muivah served in various capacities under both the Central and state governments.
The booklet titled 'Mission Ukhrul - Know Your Candidate' was officially released by Sacred Heart Church Hungpung parish priest Fr Gabriel in the presence of Ram Muivah, UADC caretaker chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung and others at 25 Degree North Restaurant here on Tuesday.
CONSpeaking during the function, Ram Muivah explained that the rationale for publishing the booklet is to inform the public, especially villagers about his life story.
"So they could know me better as one of their candidates for the upcoming polls" .
"My main objective to contest the elections is to offer my services to the needy as a way of giving back to God for all His blessings in my life," said Muivah who is seeking NPF ticket to contest the polls from Ukhrul AC.
"Since childhood, I have a dream to uplift and protect the weak and the less fortunate.
This dream inspired me to become an IAS officer.
Today, I want to continue to realise that dream as the people's representative".
Muivah, who retired from Government Service in February, 2020, continued that his agenda has no place for personal aggrandisement and added that 'if given a chance I'd whole-heartedly dedicate myself to public service only".
Touching upon his 'Mission Ukhrul,' he said that he wanted to develop Ukhrul district in the way that the life of its inhabitants is improved all round.
"Ukhrul is the Jerusalem of Manipur.
It's the place where Christianity and modern education first started in the state.
The people of Ukhrul certainly deserve a better living condition," he said.
He then informed that it's one of his wishes to develop Ukhrul as a Smart City.
According to the retired bureaucrat, the district has a vast pool of talents among the youngsters.
"But the acute of lack of basic infrastructures and opportunities stands in the way of their development.
It's the government's responsibility to provide the basic needs of the people," he contended.
"To empower our youngsters we need to focus on promotion of local enterprises.
In the same way, we must work to empower women folks who form almost 50 per cent of the population," he said.
Muivah also expressed his desire to promote Ukhrul as a tourist destination, while underscoring the need to preserve the age-old Tangkhul customs and traditions.
In his welcome address The Aja Daily manager Yaruihor Hungyo described Ram Muivah as one of the most well-known personalities among the Tangkhul bureaucrats.
"He's a man who has strong convictions in public service.
As an IAS officer, he has proved his mettle by making tremendous contributions to the cause of development and social justice," Hungyo said.
Popular musical band 'Nagahorn' also enthralled the attendees with a classic rendition of Lungchan Laa, Tangkhul oldies.
