Imphal, July 15 2024:
Denouncing Kuki-Zo organisations for making unfounded charges and spreading false narratives through various media channels on the current crisis in the state, the incidents in Jiribam in particular, Jiri Apunba Lup (JAL) vehemently condemned the Kuki-Zo community's organisations.
According to JAL, relentless attempts and campaigns are being pursued by the Kuki-Zo community to shield themselves from their own misdeeds.
In a statement, JAL said that the Ku-ki-Zo organisations are driven by aspirations to establish a so-called Kuki homeland, separate administration, or Union Territory under different names.
In pursuit of these goals, they consistently support Kuki illegal immigrants and Kuki narco-terrorists for unrealistic and absurd demands.
JAL accused Kuki-Zo people of engaging in illegal activities such as poppy cultivation, drug trafficking, deforestation, and land encroachment, which they claim are well-documented with records and video evidence.
JAL attributed the violence between the Meetei and Kuki communities to the state government s interventions in these illegal practices.
Since then, the Kuki-Zo community has harboured hatred towards the Meetei, attempting to destroy their lives and properties, JAL maintained and accused the Kuki-Zo community of disregarding justice and constantly challenging the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Furthermore, JAL claimed that the Kuki-Zo community, along with their armed groups, both SoO (Suspension of Operations) and non-SoO, have been trying to demoralise and disrupt Meetei society by perpetrating various inhumane acts and spreading fake news through national, international, and social media platforms.
However, JAL believe that the truth will eventually come to light, it maintained.
JAL specifically called out organisations like ITAC, Pherzawl, and Jiribam, which they claim echo similar sentiments to Kuki Inpi, ITLF, and CoTU.
JAL outrightly rejected deceptive statements made by these organisations in their press release on Sunday and accused Kuki-Zo organisations of having an inherent trait of falsehood, citing the recent killing of a CRPF Jawan in Mong-bung, Jiribam on Sunday, and the attack on unarmed Meetei civilians as instances of their false accusations.
JAL also claims to have ample evidence of false accusations and allegations by the Kuki-Zo community, including incidents such as gun firing from Phaitol Kuki village, burning down of Meetei houses, and attacks on police check posts at Leingangpokpi.
In conclusion, JAL requested authorities concerned to bring justice to Jiribam district and the state by controlling the terrorist acts carried out by Kuki-Zo armed militants and their associated organisations.
It also stressed the importance of proving that the rule of law still exists.
