Woman among seven held with over 1 kg heroin

Kakching district police arrested two drug peddlers including a woman with 809 grams of heroin on Thursday.
The arrested duo has been identified as Naoba Takhellambam (36) son of Iboyai Meitei of Haotak Tampak Khunou Makha Leikai, Wangoo Keirap, in Bishnupur district but presently residing in Chikim village, Moreh and Lhingchin Kipgen (46) wife of Nehkolam Kipgen of Zalenphai Part-II, Moreh.
According to police, teams of Kakching commando including women personnel conducted frisking and checking in front of Pallel PS along Imphal-Moreh road on Thursday during which a Vitara Brezza car (MN06L-8880) was signalled to halt.
Though the driver pressed the accelerator and managed to flee, the police team managed to intercept it after a brief chase.
While checking the car, the police found 65 soap cases containing heroin weighing 809 grams.
The arrested drug peddlers along with the seized items have been handed over to Kakching police station for further necessary actions, it added.
On the other hand, teams of Lilong police station along with anti-drug organisations namely ALADA and ANJUMAN, Lilong arrested a man along with 242 grams of heroin on Wednesday around 6 pm.
The arrested person has been identified as Md Mukh-ilish Juddin (25) son of Md Islamuddin of Moreh Ward No 9 but presently residing at Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai.
Upon questioning Mukhilish revealed the names of four other people involved in transaction of illegal drugs.
Subsequently, the four people, namely, Md Habib (25) son of Md Sahid of Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhul, Md Yusuf Ali (21) son of Najir Ahemad, Md Ajish Khan (23) son of Md Ajijur Rahaman of Sora Mayai Leikai and Md Najir Ahemad alias Abocha (32) son of Md Ibocha of Sora bazar were arrested.
Five mobile phones, one Eeco van white in colour (MN01AS 5502), one Suzuki Burgman 125 Scooty which was used in facilitating the drug dealing business were also recovered from their possession.
A regular case has been registered at Lilong police station for further investigation.
