Over 1000 paris of paddy fields and houses have been flooded in Kumbi constituency of Bishnupur District after water level rose in Loktak Lake as a result of breach in Chakpi River, Imphal River, Nambul River apart from the Sekmai River at Keirak.
Some affected farmers told Hueiyen Lanpao on Sunday that several fish farms had also been inundated after the monsoon rain continued to lash the State since July 2 .
The farmers also expressed anxiety over the submerged standing crops and the expected loss likely to be incurred this season.
They said the impact of this flood will affect them economically till next year.

The flooded places are Kumbi Playground Mapal, Tangjeng, Kumbikhok, Chairen, Chandolpokpi, Khunjumantabi, Laingoubi, Leingang, Sandangkhong, Awang Khunou Kumbi, Wapokpi, Thingel Leikai and Borayambi.
A woman fish seller, whose fish farm has been flooded, said she would lose around Rs 60,000 she expected to earn during the coming Ningol Chakouba festival.
Meanwhile, a team of Manipur Loumi Lup (famers' organization) assessed flooded paddy fields in different parts of the State.
The team led by organisation president N Mangi met affected farmers during the visit.
Mangi said farmers are going through a hard time because of fear of losing their standing crops.
He called upon the State Government to provide immediate relief to all the affected farmers and said crops will fail in a large chunk of the inundated paddy fields.
The Government must compensate the farmers appropriately by seeking a special package from the Centre, Mangi said.
