Guwahati, December 27 2009:
The wives and children of three senior ULFA leaders returned home today after chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and deputy commander-in-chief Raju Barua were sent to jail following 21 days in police custody.
Till now, they were with the leaders at the special branch headquarters of Assam police.
Police sources said those released included Rajkhowa's wife Kaveri Kachari, Barua's wife Nirola Neog and Runumi - wife of Ulfa foreign secretary Sasha Choudhury who was arrested earlier along with finance secretary Chitrabon Hazarika.
This is the first time Rajkhowa and Barua have been separated from their families since their arrest from the Bangladesh border in Meghalaya on December 5 .
A police official assigned to look after them said: "All the three women expressed their gratitude for the hospitality provided by Assam police".
