A civil truck plying on the highway with fake Army documents by displaying as "On Army Duty" and pretending carrying feed of defense animals was detained by the troops of Assam Rifles and handed over to the police.
Troops of B-coy of the 22 Assam Rifles detained the truck (NL-05/D-6502) along with the truckers from Punjab identified as Satpal Singh (30) son of Gurudev Singh of Patiala, Harmindar Singh of Ferozpur and Sohan Singh (19) son of Augrez Singh of Pathankot on last Tuesday and handed over to the police on the next day, a delay report from the police said.
The truck was found transporting medicines and other grocery items pretending to be on Army duty using fake Army documents only to avoid OCTROI tax while travelling on the NH-39.AR troops intercepted the vehicle at Karong village on the highway, about six kilometers on the north of the Senapati police station.
During verification to the documents, the troops further found them using OCTROI exemption certificate loading with fake Army stamps to show that the item loaded in the truck is baled-hay 15 MT means feeding items for the defense animals.
The vehicle also displayed a board "On Army Duty" .
Police registered a case after naib subedar Tongkham Vaiphei of AR lodged a complaint while handing over the truck along with the three truckers and investigation is on, police said.
