Dr Palin clears air on Shija Health City project

Reacting to the rumours doing the rounds with regard to the MoU signed between Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI) Pvt Ltd and Sun and Sands Enterprises Pvt Ltd for the Shij a HealthCity Manipur
project, Chairman cum Managing Director of SHRI Dr Palin has stated that the MoU is between private parties and the details of which they consider not necessary to share it in public domain at this juncture.
According to a press release issued by the Chairman cum Managing Director to the media, Shija HealthCity Manipur is a long cherished dream of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt Ltd to bring about a paradigm shift in the healthcare landscape of the region.
It is an Rs 3500 crore project of generations which will generate employment to about 72,000 with 2300 modem hospital beds, stop our patients and medical related students from going outside the State to some extent and rather attract them from outside the State and the country for the economic growth of the State.
It is unfortunate that of late there has been a deliberate attempt to malign the image of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute and the State Government for political gain, it stated, terming the rumours doing the rounds as unfounded and far from reality.
The release elaborated that the MoU was inked to source necessary fund for the Shija HealthCity Manipur project and SHRI has done its job of due diligence including personal meeting with Sanjeev Sinha, President, Sun and Sands, based in Tokyo (Advisor to Japan funded 13.5 Billion USD with 0.5 percent interest PA Bullet Train Project connecting Ahmedabad and Mumbai) .
"On top of that, Shija HealthCity Manipur will not be financed by Sun and Sands and thus their financial statement has nothing to do with our project.
We are seeking consultancy services and guidance from them.
There has been no transaction with the Government till date in cash or in kind neither with Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt Ltd nor Sun and Sands Enterprises Pvt Ltd.
Government of Manipur, seeing the need of the project, simply facilitates as it is done everywhere in the world in PPP mode," it clarified.
The release further stated that Manipur is bleeding in healthcare, healthcare education, pharmaceuticals, surgical consumables, etc and more than 400 Manipuri students are going outside the State and country in a year to study MBBS in private institutes.
People of ManipUr think the HealthCity is needed in the state.
We need to stop the bleeding with escape velocity before it becomes torrential, it added.
It claimed that Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt Ltd has a history of more than 30 years in health care domain from a mono practice to 250 bedded super specialty hospital with PG Courses in five disciplines and 860 dedicated caregivers.
We have been striving to bring in the best and advanced healthcare to the region.
The effort of which is being recognized by several accolades we have received till date.
Unwarranted and unfounded comments will not deter the spirit of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt Ltd from working and contributing towards development of the State, it added.
