Lockdown-3 of CSOs ends, DM extends curfew till June 25

Kangpokpi, June 12 2021: With the end of Lockdown-3 imposed by Kangpokpi town civil bodies under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee, the district magistrate has imposed curfew in Kangpokpi district for another 14 days with effect from midnight of June 11.The curfew order issued by the district magistrate stated that given the unrelenting spread of the pandemic in the district it has become expedient to impose further restrictions following the culmination of the local lockdown initiated by various civil bodies with limited permitted activities.

The exempted activities mentioned in the order included media, power, fire services, PHED, CAF&PD, police, para-military, health, relief and disaster management, and district administration.

Also, vehicle workshops of goods truck, petrol tankers, LPG Bullet, etc, are allowed to open from 8 am to 3 pm on all days by taking adequate precaution and following necessary protocols.

Grocery shops can open from 7 am to 10 am on alternate days starting from Sunday.

However, shopkeepers should have a fortnightly COVID-19 free certificate from the medical officer in charge of the area.

Pharmacies are allowed to open regularly as usual with a fortnightly COVID-19 free certificate from the medical officer in charge of the area.

Banking service with limited staff and petrol pump will also remain open.

Meanwhile, COVID Task Force Kangpokpi continued random mass testing of vegetable sellers, shopkeepers and labourers in collaboration with police personnel of Kangpokpi police station.

Around 80 individuals were tested at the district hospital by the COVID-19 testing team of the hospital and all were found negative.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the district has reached 90 with 13 positive cases detected in the last 24 hours with eight COVID patients cured and discharged on Saturday while the fatality remains at 31.District's chief medical officer in-charge Dr Ph Henkhoneng Mate, who is also the district nodal officer (testing), met with the seven COVID Task Force teams of Kangpokpi AC and discussed various important issues concerning COVID-related preventive measures, vaccination, testing, home isolation, etc.

She appreciated the commendable support and assistance given by the COVID Task Force to the health workers and conveyed sincere gratitude to MLA Nemcha Kipgen for constituting the Task Forces.

Dr Henkhoneng said that the constitution of COVID Task Forces greatly helped in containing the infection and fatality rate in the constituency in particular and the district as a whole.

She also appealed to the COVID Task Force to continue helping the health workers and the medical department apart from the general public.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the district CSO COVID Task Force has also extended lockdown for another week in the district.
