Imphal, November 01 2026: The Environment and Climate Change Department, Government of Manipur, organised a discussion programme on "Talk With Elders on Nature and Human" today.

The programme was held at the main auditorium of the department at Porompat.

Heigrujam Devendra moderated the discussion, while former Dean of School of Human and Environmental Science, Manipur University, Prof W Nabakumar, environmentalist Dr Khangembam Shamungou and former Principal of DM College of Science, Gurumayum Tomba Sharma, participated as resource persons.

Speaking on the occasion, Director of Environment and Climate Change Department Dr T Brajakumar said people need to understand their responsibility towards protecting the environment.

He said rivers that once had abundant flow are drying up, and if the trend continues, many life forms including humans will find it difficult to survive.

He said experts have pointed out that forests across the world are shrinking, leading to rise in sea levels and climate change, and stressed the need to take these threats seriously.
