The Zou tribe under the aegis of United Zou Organisation today celebrated the Zogal (Zo War) Day and Zouton (Zou festivity) at Zoumunnuam village on the outskirts of the township with IPR Minister TN Haokip as its Chief Guest.
At least 48 known individuals killed during the Zogal were honoured during the day's ceremony even as the festivity kicked-off alongside with a roaring traditional dances and songs.
The celebration was also attended by the Government's chief whip Mangibabu and other district officials including the DC and SP.
A look-alike contest of a Thailand celebrity, locally known as 'Paupu' whose every single film was comically altered into a Zou language was the biggest attraction in the night's event that began at 6 pm.

'Meilam' within 7 days: With the recurring incident of wildfire spreading to villages and entire district still reeling under a severe dry-spell, the district administration has instructed all villages within its jurisdiction to build 'Meilam'�a process of chopping all vegetation in a specific area to control the spread of fire, around all the villages/hamlets within seven days.
The strict notification issued by the DC Jacintha Lazarus stipulated the completion report of the same should be submitted to the concerned BDO for further submission to her office.
The order was effected as a result of the dry-spell that was coupled with gale forest and fire from clearance of jhum fields, said the notification, as there is a danger of fire consuming residential houses, buildings of various houses within the village in the district.
The notice requested for reporting any accidental fire even after the construction of 'Meilam' to the concerned BDOs.
