World Ozone Day observed

The observance of World Ozone Day was held at Anallon Christian Institute, Chandel today under the theme 'Global Action for a Cooler Planet' organised by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Chandel.
The observance was graced by DFO Chandel Dr N Munal Meitei; Anallon Christian Institute, Chandel Principal Wamgam Anal and Forest Range Officer, Chandel N Deepa Devi as the presidium members.
It may be noted that the observance witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students and teaching staff of the institute and staff of the Forest Department, Chandel.
Speaking in connection with the programme, Dr N Munal Meitei spoke on the history and significance of World Ozone Day which is observed to raise awareness about protecting the ozone layer.
He highlighted that the ozone layer is a shield against the harmful ultraviolet rays and its depletion poses serious threats to human beings and the living-beings and the natural environment.
In view of the above, Dr N Munal Meitei urged all to practice remedial measures such as planting trees to protect the ozone layer.
