Source: Chronicle News Service

Senapati, October 01 2022: Suspected IED bomb exploded on Friday evening at the office of the CMO/director, District Health Society, Senapati.

However, no one or group has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion that occurred around 9 pm.

According to reports, nobody was there at the premises of the CMO office, Senapati when the incident took place as neighbours residing nearby the office said that they heard a loud blast, presuming that it was a tyre burst of a heavy vehicle.

It was only in the morning that some neighbours discovered that the blast occurred inside the office room of the district immunization officer.

The impact of the blast caused damages to the office of the district immunization officer and district malaria officer.

It is believed that unknown miscreants must have broken the glasses of the window and hurled the bomb into the office before the blast.

No human casualty was reported from the incident.

Briefing media persons, Dr Pfokreho Pfoze, CMO/director District Health Society, Senapati, termed the incident unfortunate and said that such intimidation is bad for the society as invited all to come forward and settle any dissatisfaction through dialogue.

The CMO also stressed on the need to preserve the age-old value of trust that has been practised since time immemorial.

On being asked if there was any monetary demand from anyone/group, the CMO responded that there was no such thing or quarrel between the department and anybody or group.

In a joint condemnation, the Naga People's Organization (NPO) and Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) expressed dismay over the incident and said that the bomb blast that happened in the heart of the town created fear psychosis among the denizens of the Senapati district H/Q.The two bodies further said that the CSOs out rightly and vehemently condemn such act of terrorism that attempted to cause disturbances, fear and tension within the peace zone.

The site of the bomb explosion is the place where every individual throng to get treated.

It is the place for the sick, the weak, toddlers and children who come for immunization, the two organisations said while calling the perpetrators uncivilized and a threat to the society.

They also demanded the persons involved reveal the reasons for the act and urged for a thorough investigation by the law enforcing authorities to nab the culprits for stringent punishment.

Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) also strongly condemned the bomb attack and warned those vested individuals trying to taint a place of healing with such sordid act of incivility.

The student body affirmed its stance against any act of terrorism and warned that such attack was never tolerated and will never be tolerated.

The SDSA reminded that the present society endorses peace and advocates harmonious co-existence.

Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC) also vehemently condemned "the drastically barbaric act" of exploding bomb at the office of the CMO office on September 30.It appealed to the security forces to book the culprits responsible for the bomb blast to restore public confidence.

The JAC formed against the bomb blast while strongly condemning the heinous Crime committed to the medical fraternity also asked all responsible persons in the district to come out and voice their protest against such unforgivable act of violence so as to prevent recurrence in the district.
