Senapati, August 31 2024:
Questioning Kuki Students' Organisation, Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) for failing to comply with the former's appeal against organising any rally in SDSA's jurisdiction, Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has categorically stated that KSO-SH should be held accountable for any consequences resulting from the same in the near future.
In a press statement issued by its Information & Publicity Wing, SDSA vehemently condemned manhandling of SDSA leaders and volunteers, who were holding a peaceful human chain at Tumnoupokpi Naga village on Saturday to prevent the rally from proceeding any further, by Kuki rally participants amidst presence of central and state security personnel.
Such provocative and violent attitude of KSO-SH's rally participants despite prior appeal to cease any form of rally in Naga-inhabited areas is questionable and unacceptable, it contended.
SDSA further questioned the motives and agenda of the rally organisers in trespassing in Naga areas despite the appeal being issued even before the conduct of the rally.
Moreover, the provocative nature of rally participants openly screaming, "We demand Kukiland, this is our land" in Naga-inhabited areas is highly questionable, for which the rally organiser, KSO-SH, can be termed as provoking the Southern Nagas.
"SDSA has made it ample clear in earlier statements that any form of carving out Southern Senapati and Naga areas into Kangpokpi district by the then government is not recognised and had reiterated the UNC's demand to roll back the new district creations.
Therefore, KSO-SH's so-called peace rally in Nagas' traditional boundaries and ancestral land, demanding for separate administration or Kukiland, is unacceptable," it asserted.
Considering the above facts, SDSA put on record that any consequence, following the aftermath of the manhandling incident at Tumnoupokpi Naga village by the KSO-SH rally against SDSA leaders and volunteers, KSO-SH shall be held accountable.
SDSA will not be responsible for any outcome in the near future, it cautioned.
