Works to produce power under Khuga project in process: N Biren

Due to some technical problems, the Khuga Multi Purpose Project, though could not produce power on the scheduled time, the project is in the process of producing power at present, said Minister N Biren.
Replying to a question from MLA N Mangi in the floor of the House during the Question Hour, IFCD Minister N Biren said that experts from outside the state have checked the possibility of producing power by the Khuga Multi Purpose Project and it has been confirmed that the Project can produce power.
He further sated that the right canal of the Project will be supplying power before the commencement of the first crop.
Though the length of the canal is 60 kms, water is being supplied to a distance of 40 kms only.
The remaining 20 kms needs to be further mended and for this an estimated amount of Rs 47 crores has been proposed.
Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayentakumar, replying to a question from MLA Khangthuanang Panmei, said that the shutting down of the Tamenglong District Hospital as a result of the cease work strike by Doctors and Nurses leading to the death of a newly born child is very unfortunate.
He further said that the cease work strike have been lifted after the government had issued Transfer and Posting order of 3 doctors and 2 nurses for Tamenglong district Hospital to resolve the problem.
Replying to O Joy, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that no officers of the Manipur Finance Service (MFS) Grade -II were appointed without the recommendation of the Manipur Public Service Commission.
The Chief Minister replying to the question from K Sharat, said that Pukhrambam Kajao was the first person to spear Mr Grimwood, the then Political Agent of the British Government to Manipur on March 24, 1891.The government of Manipur pays homage to all the martyrs both known and unknown including P Kajao who had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Manipur on the Patriots day Celebration held on August 13 every year.
