Khurai youth take out silent protest rally

Putting forward various demands in connection with the present crisis in the state, youth of Khurai took out a mass silent protest rally with their mouths covered by black clothes on Tuesday.
The silent rally demanding implementation of NRC in Manipur, settlement of displaced people in their respective places, rooting out narco-terrorists from Manipur, safeguarding of the territorial integrity of Manipur, unearthing the truth behind killing of the two students and to punish the culprits involved in their murder, kicked off from YOSC ground Khabeisoi.
The rallyists passed through Khurai Konsam Leikai and Pangei road and assembled at Somendro ground.
Speaking to reporters, one Sana Mangang informed that the silent rally has been organised demanding an immediate solution to the prevailing crisis in the state.
Expressing resentment over some meira paibis allegedly urging the public not to participate in the rally, he pointed out that as the crisis has completed five months and consequently creating serious problems to the people, the rally intended to ring out message to the authority concerned to help in restoring peace and tranquillity in the state.
The rally is not associated with any political party or any individual and group, he said.
The youth who took part in the rally also shouted slogans like "long live Manipur", "We want justice", and "Implement NRC" when it culminated at Somendro.
They also observed a 2-minute silence as a mark of respect to those who laid down their lives to save their motherland during the present crisis.
A candle light vigil was also organised at Citizens' Club, Soibam Leikai in the evening while floral tributes and candle vigil were also organised by Salam Mamang Leikai Meira Paibi and Juvenile Club at Salam Mamang Leikai community hall.
Meanwhile, members of Awang Sekmai Kanba Nupi Lup formed human chains at Sekmai bazar on Tuesday evening demanding befitting punishment to the culprits involved in the killing of the two students.
