Demanding justice for the two slain students Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi at the hands of Kuki terrorists, people continue to carry out many democratic forms of protests across the State.

United Women Voluntary Association also took out a torch rally yesterday night in the surrounding areas of Yumnam Patlou calling for swift justice in the case of double murder of two young students.
The rallyists raised many slogans demanding justice for the two youths, condemning their brutal cold-blooded murder and stringent punishment for culprits responsible for such a heinous crime.
Speaking by the sideline of the torch rally, one unnamed meira paibi urged the State Government to rein in the violence ravaging Manipur and show some semblance of a functioning State machinery.
If concrete steps are not taken to resolve the conflict, the situation will deteriorate even further to the detriment of everyone, she said while calling for restoration of peace.
She also pointed out the hardships faced by daily wage earners due to the ongoing conflict that has wreaked havoc on the economic life of the State.
Meanwhile, Awang Sekmai Kanba Nupi Lup staged a protest demonstration by forming a human chain and demanding stringent punishment for the culprits.
The Global Manipur Federation (GMF) representing chapters worldwide including Australia, Asia, America, the UK, Africa and the UAE, held a candlelight vigil to pay their respects to the departed souls of the two students.
Condemning their brutal killing, the GMF has urged the N Biren Singh Government to take urgent action to end this turmoil and restore peace.
Separately, in support of the Joint Action Committee Against the Brutal Killing of Two Students's agitation, Hengang Awang Leikai Apunba Nupi Lup staged a protest demonstration from 8 pm to 9 pm yesterday night by forming a human chain.
The protestors raised many slogans such as "We want justice", "Punish the Kuki militants responsible for killing two students" among others.
The gathering also observed a 2-minute silence to mourn the passing of noted woman activist Longjam Memchoubi who passed away on October 1 .
