Highway expansion work disrupts Ukhrul water supply

Ukhrul, October 23 2024: The ongoing National Highway-202 expansion work has damaged the water pipelines laid from Shirui to Ukhrul thereby disrupting the water supply.

According to Ningchuimi Shingnaisui, AE, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Government of Manipur, the ongoing earth cutting work is carried out with the deployment of heavy machineries by NHIDCL along NH-202 from Shirui to Ukhrul water supply treatment plant.

He informed that the Department is working on war footing to restore the damaged water pipelines at the earliest to reduce the problem of water shortage.

Additionally, PHED, Ukhrul has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the consumers due to ongoing highway construction work.
