In appreciation of work being done by journalists as frontline warriors during the second wave of Covid-19, Lamding Educated Welfare Association (LEWA) provided edible items, face masks and hand sanitizers to various scribes of Thoubal district on Sunday.
The items were handed over by LEWA Lamding president S Ojit to Thoubal District Working Journalists' Union (TDW-JU) president Soibam Binoy at Thoubal Melaground.
Meanwhile, TDWJU on Sunday provided aid to All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) member Thokchom Jayanta, who is also Kakching District Journalists' Association (KADJA) general secretary and Image TV journalist.
Jayanta is under home isolation after contracting Covid-19.A TDWJU team led by its president Soibam Binoy handed over the aid which included masks, hand sanitizers, IB syrup, multivitamins and other edibles.
On the other hand, in continuation of distributing food items to households under Thongju assembly constituency by works minister and local MLA Th Biswajit, edibles were provided to people of Thongju Part II Pheijaleitong on Sunday.
On behalf of the MLA, the food items were distributed to residents of Thongju Part II Pheijaleitong by all the seven Gram Panchayat pradhans of the AC, Thongju Kendra Voluntary Workers Covid-19 Relief Committee, Students' Welfare Club Pheijaleitong and Local Development Association Maibi Lampak volunteers.
On Saturday, Biswajit chaired a meeting participated by the seven GP pradhans and Zilla Parishad members of Thongju AC wherein decision to form Task Force in every ward of the constituency was taken so as to help in fight of containing Covid-19 pandemic.
A Community Home Isolation Centre for Thongju AC has also been opened at Thongju Part II Konok Khongnangkhong Urban Primary Health Centre.
Similarly, BJP Manipur Pradesh special invitee and Bhubon Technical and Skill Development Private Limited chairman Naorem Nabachandra distributed edibles to 750 families of Pallel through members of Youth Volunteer's Association (YVA) Pallel on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Manipur Police Housing Corporation retired executive engineer Yengkhom Nilachandra Singh of Kakching Khullen Laishangbam Pareng and Kshetrimayum Biren Singh of Kakching Mayai Leikai jointly sprayed sodium hypochlorite solution at various parts of Kakching Ward No.9 to sanitise the area on Sunday.
