CM stresses on unity to save Manipur

Governor Anusuiya Uikey and chief minister N Biren have extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Khongjom Day.
In separate messages, they reminded that Khongjom Day is observed on April 23 every year in Manipur in remembrance of the supreme sacrifices made by our forefathers for the motherland.
On this occasion, while paying homage to the valiant heroes who fell at the battle of Khongjom and other fronts in the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, we must renew our vow to preserve and defend the sovereignty of the country, they said.
In her message, Governor Uikey emphasised on the essence of forgetting any differences and re-dedicating to the task of nation building and strive for bringing peace and harmony while chief minister Biren expressed that courage and heroism of Manipuri forefathers is of utmost relevance today when the state is faced with divisive forces that are bent upon destroying the state's age old fabric of harmonious living.
The CM also urged all to resolve to stand in unison for united Manipur and to work together in facing all evils that stand before us today.
Meanwhile, Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK), in a release, wished the people of Manipur on the occasion of Khongjom Day and paid respect to the heroes who laid down their lives fighting for the land in the Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891.With the coming of Khongjom Day, it is high time that people pledge to protect the integrity and territory of Manipur at all cost, the release stated, while adding that occasion conveyed the message of patriotism, sacrifice, sincerity and unity.
