Thoubal, August 10 2024: Waithou Educated Youth Association (WEYA) has urged the State Government to take up steps to ensure that the Waithou Water Supply Project provides water to the residents of Waithou by the end of September.

Failing to do so within the stipulated time period, WEYA has threatened to shut down the water supply project in October.

A press release issued by WEYA has pointed out that despite being inaugurated in 2022 and supplying water to a majority of Thoubal district, the Waithou Water Supply Project has failed to provide water to the residents of Waithou Bazar, Waithou Tronglaobi, Waithou Khongnang Kachin, Waithou Lipokpi Leimang Konjil and Waithou Sangomshang.

Despite repeated appeals from local MLA K Meghacahndra to address this issue, the Government has failed to resolve the problem, said WEYA.
