The Governor, Gurbachan Jagat today expressed deep pain and shock at the tragic bus accident along the Tamenglong-Imphal road yesterday that claimed at least 12 passengers including an eight month old infant and injured over 40, and termed the tragic road accident as most unfortunate.
Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM) today expressed concerns over the bus mishap that and said that the accident was the result of overloading coupled with rash and negligent driving.
At the same time, sharing the grief of the bereaved families, the Zeliangrong Welfare Committee, MU, expressed heartfelt condolence to the victims who met their end on May 7 due to the bus accident, particularly to Kadichang Pamei of Jadonang Street, Tamenglong, a fourth semester student of Political Science department of MU, who was one among the dead victims.
Saying that the tragedy could have been averted had the road been widened, the ZWC also urged the government to improve the narrowed road to prevent any such mishap in the road.
The Liangmei Naga Council and People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) have also condoled the victims of the mishap.
