Imphal, May 28 2023:
South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) has asserted that many precious lives could have been saved if the Government had deployed State & Central Forces in 38 vulnerable areas earlier.
In a release, SEACO informed that despite numerous calls for peace & normalcy from various CSOs, organisations and clubs, there is no sign for the violence to end any time soon with violence breaking out almost daily in the peripheral areas of the valley districts.
It mentioned that the Meetei community have been showing restraint and calling for peace while armed Kuki militants have continued to attack innocent civilians, destroy and vandalise houses in Meitei villages on the outskirts of the valley.
It also stated that there will be no lasting peace in Manipur until these anti-social elements especially the armed Kuki militants are brought under control.
SEACO further appealed to the State and Central Governments to find the true genesis of the violence and take immediate action to restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
