Bishnupur, October 18 2024:
Assam Rifles carried out an extensive anti-mosquito fogging operation in Oinam village and relief camps in Bishnupur district yesterday.
The initiative was taken up in light of the rising cases of Dengue fever in Manipur with the aim to safeguard the health of the local populace and mitigate the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, particularly Dengue, said a press release issued by IGAR (S).
Dengue fever continues to pose a significant public health concern across Manipur, with affected districts including Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, and Bishnupur.
In addition to the fogging, the local population was also educated on essential preventive measures to combat Dengue.
These included vector control methods such as eliminating mosquito breeding sites, promoting personal protection through the use of insect repellents and protective clothing, and reinforcing surveillance efforts by encouraging regular health checks.
The locals of Oinam village welcomed Assam Rifles initiative for this significant contribution to the community's well-being.
