Imphal, May 17 2013 :
Though the outward appearance of LMS Law College at Imphal looks attractive and eye catching, the pathetic condition of the College one gets to experience as soon as he/she enters is really disheartening, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has exclaimed.
The Minister was speaking as Chief Guest of the unveiling ceremony of the statue of Lairenmayum Sheibyashachi, the founder of LMS Law College, at the College Campus today.
Minister Okendro pointed out that the academic building of the institution was constructed in 2008-09 and so there is the need to recheck the condition of the building for doing the needful in time.
He noted that the present condition of the Law College is in such a bad shape that it would be of no help to the students of the State which is engulfed by various issues.

The Minister went on to point out that the teachers and the students cannot altogether depend on the Government for everything.
There should be mutual cooperation.
On its part, the State Government will provide all the necessary staffs of the institution in spite of the financial problems being faced at the moment.
The institution cannot sustain itself with just 5 regular teachers and another 9 Guest Lecturers.
The Minister also appealed to the general public to make Manipur an educationally dependent State.
It is not a good sign for the students to go for higher studies outside the State.
The State has got many good institutions up to the Higher Secondary Level and has even produced all-India topper.
Taking advantage of the visit, Md Solatur Rehman, Principal of LMS Law College and Students Union of the College submitted memorandum to the Education Minister highlighting various problems being faced in the smooth administration of the lone Government law college in the State.
