Imphal, October 11 2021:
JCILPS has issued a stern warning against inclusion of non-locals in the voter electoral roll with the election a few months away.
In a statement issued today, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) made the remark and added that inclusion of a huge number of non-locals in the voter electoral roll is something that has happened in the past especially during election time by candidates with an aim of increasing their supporters.
JCILPS said the candidates should not engage themselves in such practice and stop putting the future of the indigenous people of the State at stake for the sake of creating a vote bank favourable to them.
Regarding a statement made by BJP State president A Sharda while inaugurating a BJP Mandal office at Thangal Bazar that voters who were removed by the socio economic caste census during Congress rule will be restored in the voter electoral roll, JCILPS expressed the need for this decision to be discussed thoroughly at a public platform.
JCILPS also sought support of the public in their campaign to closely monitor such changes in newly published voter electoral rolls of various Constituencies including Thangmeiband, Sagolband, Uripok, Wangkhei etc.
