IN THE aftermath of the "inhumanity, brutality and sheer cruelty to the women rallyists on November 3 last, police are chasing behind the office bearers of the Mapithel Dam Affected Ching-tam Organization, Thoubal Multi-purpose project, said a statement of the organization while cautioning the state government any untoward incidents be happened to the members of the MDACTO, the sole responsibility will be for the state chief minister, O Ibobi Singh and IFCD minister, N Biren.
The statement alleged that since from the day of rally till today, police have been after the office bearers of the MDACTO without any FIR while make the members feel apprehension of arresting and leveling false charges.
"If any unwanted consequences happened to any member of the MDACTO by any action of the state forces, the responsibility shall lie with the CM, O Ibobi and IFCD minister N Biren," said the statement while observing that it is the wrong contention of the chief minister that the mentioned issue can be defeated by arresting the leaders of MDACTO.
People are well aware of the false promises made by the state government.
They can't be cheated any more.
The issue can only be settled when there is dialogue with the affected people and accepting the demand of MDACTO, the statement warned the government while reiterating their demand which included among other constitution of a judicial enquiry and book the police personnel involved in "brutal" acts against the women rallyists and stopping further construction of Mapithel Dam till review it completely.
While strongly condemning the government alleged adoption of repressive measures to peaceful and democratic rallyist on November 3 last, the organization is demanding the state government to respect and protect the rights of the dignity of women as human being, provision of compensation to all victims of the November 3 incidents, extension of support to save AS Lungmila who suffered serious injuries in the police action.
It also demand withdrawal of all military personnel stationed at Mapithel affected area.
On November 3 last, mention may be made that police and security forces fired tear gas shells and baton charge a group of women carrying out a protest rally demanding revision of Mapithel Dam at the dam site in which several protestors wounded.
