SI Sharma not to contest election in Wangkhem AC

Imphal, February 02 2022: Former Managing Director of Manipur Industrial Development Corporation (MANIDCO) Ltd, Shamurailatpam Ibotombi Sharma (SI Sharma) has categorically stated that he will continue to work selflessly for the people of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency though he has been denied the BJP ticket.

SI Sharma who was preparing to contest in the forthcoming State Legislative Assembly election also declared that he would not be contesting while speaking to media persons during a press meet held at his residence at Yairipok Bamon Leikai today.

It may be noted that he was among the six intending candidates from Wangkhem AC vying for BJP ticket but he did not resign from BJP though he was denied the party ticket as compared to other four intending candidates who left BJP and joined other political parties.

He further maintained that he strongly believes in the ideologies of BJP and has high respect for the party symbol and will never leave the party and will continue to work under the guidance of State and Central party leaders.

However his supporters and well wishers are free to elect any candidates of their choice as it is their fundamental right, he added.

SI Sharma further stated that he along with the other intending candidates who were pursuing for BJP ticket signed an agreement to support one another on January 8, 2022 in the presence of the Chief Minister.

Stating that during his election campaign, he appealed to the public to vote for BJP, he expressed strong belief that BJP will emerge victorious and will form the Government in Manipur.
