Annual convocation held

Imphal, March 19 2018:
The 11th Annual Convocation of Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SJMATS) was held at MM Convention Centre, Saveetha Dental College campus, yesterday.
Covering fields such as Research, Medical, Dental, Physiotherapy, Engineering, Management, Law and Nursing, 1324 students were awarded degrees during the occasion.
Dr NM Veeraiyan, Founder and Chancellor, SIMATS, presided over the function and awarded degrees to students of SIMATS.
Mark Van De Vreken, Consulate General of Belgium, Chennai delivered the convocation address as the chief guest in the forenoon and Munish Sharma, Australian Trade Commissioner, Chennai, delivered the convocation address in the afternoon as the chief guest.
Speaking during the event, Dr L Jawahar Nesan, Vice Chancellor, presented the annual report of SIMATS.
He emphasized that the University has always been in the forefront of social welfare such as AATRAL Foundation, an initiative to provide financial assistance to women and children with potentially curable cancer.
Mark Van De Vreken, during his address, congratulated SIMATS for achieving four Guinness records related to health and wellness.
He mentioned that his home country, Belgium, has been for many years, a leader in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical industries and a number of Indian students are pursuing higher education there.
