Importance of protecting endangered wildlife species highlighted

National Endangered Species Day was observed today at YK College Wangjing on the theme "Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation In Wildlife Conservation".
As a part of the observance organised by the Environment Club of the college, a State level competition on ex-tempore speech and spot painting was conducted.
Directorate of University And Higher Education Additional Director P Shantikumar, MCS graced as the chief guest while YK College Wangjing Principal Dr Soibam Giri and professor of Lilong Haoreibi College Md Abdul Sattar Shah graced as the president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the keynote address, convenor of the Environment Club Dr Ningthoujam Shovarani that the National Endangered Species Day is observed at the college to raise awareness among the students about the importance of protecting the endangered wild life species since their existence is threatened by the increasing human population, natural calamities and other phenomenons.
P Shantikumar while speaking at the occasion, lauded the college for organising such an important event and appealed to the students to contribute in safeguarding the endangered wildlife species.
