CorCom extends greetings on 10th anniversary

Imphal, July 07 2021: On the eve of its 10th birth anniversary which falls on July 8, the Coordination Committee (CorCom) not only honoured the entire people and revolutionary groups of Manipur and WESEA but also extended revolutionary greetings.

The conglomerate of proscribed organisations operating in Manipur also paid its highest honour to all those who succumbed to COVID-19 during the pandemic and shared the pain and grief of the bereaved family members.

It also thanked doctors, nurses and healthcare workers fighting the pandemic in the forefront as warrior with immense courage risking their lives while leaving their love ones at homes and many of them succumbed to the virus.

The sacrifice made by doctors, nurses and healthcare workers during the pandemic will ever remain in the history of Manipur (Kangleipak) in golden letters, a CorCom statement issued by its publicity committee said.

Apart from Manipur, the virus has now spread far and wide across neighbouring Myanmar and it has taken numerous lives in that country, the CorCom said and extended its deep condolences to all the affected people.

The conglomerate group, however, expressed hope that the pandemic would be overcome soon and peace and harmony restored to ultimately achieve the goal for an egalitarian society in both Manipur and Myanmar.

Just as people across the globe being hit hard by the pandemic, entire people of Manipur are also suffering and living in the middle of life and death much due to economic backwardness and lack of healthcare facilities for being under Indian suppressive administration for a long time.

Many youth, children and elderly people including prominent personalities have succumbed to the virus as the state could not tackle the pandemic properly, the CorCom statement said and blamed the government for lacking preparedness and will to fight the pandemic.

The present COVID-19 situation could have been avoided had the government of India considered lives of the people seriously and took utmost precautions when the virus was first detected in December, 2019.This is about the first wave of the pandemic and the situation was somewhat improved before the onslaught of second wave particularly in the last part of 2020 and early 2021.During this time, European countries paid much attention towards bringing out vaccine and improving health infrastructure to prevent from the virus.

Contrary to what the European countries did during this time, the government of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a hectic propaganda throughout global media that the country defeated COVID-19 successfully instead of taking up precautionary measures or improving health sector to prevent the next wave.

The second wave hit India in April 2021 and reached its peak in May and June and thus more than four lakh people have succumbed to the virus as of now.

As the fatalities were much due to erroneous policy of the government, truth about COVID-19 related deaths and records were concealed intentionally.

In some states, media reported that number of people died due to COVID-19 was six times higher than those recorded and electronic media of the country reported about dead bodies being ferried on rickshaw after being unable to give treatment and floating of COVID-19 related dead bodies on water of Ganga river.
