"Relocate Police Station from sacred site"

Wangoo Naodakhong Makha Leikai has staged a sit-in protest against the construction of a Police Station by Manipur Govt at Handpump Hill, a reserve forest area near Wangoo Naodakhong Makha Leikai Kabidak Loukon yesterday.
Local meira paibi, clubs, NGOs, social workers and elected members of the ward took part in the protest.
One of the protesters, Sanoujam Sanahal expressed that the site for construction of the Police Station at Handpump Hill is a reserve forest area and is considered one sacred place by the natives of Wangoo Naodakhong Makha Leikai since time immemorial.
"We are not against the presence of a Police Station in and around of our village, but we are concerned with the site chosen by the Government," he said.
"However after much deliberations, elders of Wangoo Naodakhong Makha Leikai and its adjoining villages have decided to help find a new and an appropriate location for the construction of the same Police Station," he added.
The protesters appealed the authority concerned to consider their plea and demanded immediate relocation of the PS on or before July 15.The protesters cautioned that they will take up intense forms of agitation if their appeals are not heard.
