Imphal, April 18 2009: The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur has registered its strong condemnation over the barbaric act of alleged rape and strangling to death of Baby Gaipuilu Gangmei (5) daughter of Martin and Aluna Gangmei on April 17 at her residential block at Mahipalpur, Delhi.

A press release signed by the students' union social and Culture Secretary, Micah Kamei seriously notes the insecurity of living at the National Capital particularly in the wake of targeting the minorities by miscreants.

"The irreparable damages done to the minorities are not justified and should be condemned in the strongest term," the statement noted while also sharing the grief of the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, the Rongmei Lu Phuam (Ruangmei Women's Organisation), Assam, Manipur and Nagaland strongly condemned the inhuman rape and subsequent murder of a minor girl, G Gaipuilu at New Delhi yesterday.

Ranti Gonmei, President of RLP (AMN) in a press statement appealed the Government of Delhi, Government of India, Manipur and Nagaland Governments to initiate action against the absconding culprits.

It also avowed to take up efforts to bring justice so as to check such crimes against humanity while also appealing the Churches, NGOs, students' bodies to condemn the crime.

The RLP statement also conveys gratitude to Modhuchandra and other members of the NE Helpline for rendering social service in time of needs.
