Covid claims three more lives, infects 268
So far seven fully vaccinated persons have died of covid-19

Imphal, September 08 2021: Day after recording zero Covid death, the virus has claimed three more lives in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative official death toll to 1805 in the state.

All the three victims belong to Imphal East district and one of them had no co-morbid condition while one had received first dose vaccine.

So far, 97 vaccinated individuals including seven fully vaccinated persons have died of Covid-19.On the other hand, the daily positivity rate and test capacity remain low with government bulletins on Wednesday reporting 268 new positive cases out of 3282 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 8.17 per cent against 7.97 recorded on Tuesday.

Though the overall positivity rate in the state remains in single digit, Chandel (14.6 per cent), Imphal East (11.8 pc), Imphal West (10.7 pc), Kamjong (15.4 pc), Noney (17.4 pc), Pherzawl (14.3 pc) and Ukhrul 10.1pc) districts reported double digit positivity rate.

The active caseload reduced to 3164 out of which 809 (25.57 per cent) are in home isolation, 1190 (37.61 per cent) in CHICs, 661 (20.89 per cent) in CCCs and 504 (15.93 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 100 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 1161 are on oxygen support and 41 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 166, 24 and 14 patients respectively.

At the same time, 8 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Wednesday evening, 554 beds including 101 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Tuesday evening 2806 beds were available in different CCCs, and 333 beds (21 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 86,674 positive cases and 1431 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 1931 new cases and 21 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 268 new positive cases included 258 civilians (133 male & 125 female) and 10 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (11), JNIMS (33) and other testing centres (224) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (59), Imphal West (113), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (8), Kakching (6), Ukhrul (ll), Churachandpur (35), Chandel (7), Senapati (5), Tamenglong (4), Noney (3), Pherzawl (2) and Kamjong (1) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 269 persons were discharged from home isolation (87), RIMS (9), JNIMS (l5), CCCs (77) and CHICs (81) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,16,134 (general population - 1,11,977 and CAPF personnel - 4,157) .

Number of recovered cases is 111,165 (general population - 1,07,058 and CAPF personnel - 4,107) and number of active cases is 3,164 (general population - 3,119 and CAPF personnel - 45) .

The recovery rate is 95.72 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1567 D-type and 310 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 6369 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,97,016 which include 3,78,935 fully vaccinated individuals.

As of Tuesday, 88,464 people eligible for second doses are yet to get their second shot.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle hased on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (39,447), Imphal East (25,726), Thoubal (9203), Churachandpur (9810), Kangpokpi (2657), Tamenglong (3193), Bishnupur (8831), Senapati (2112), Ukhrul (2437), Kakching (6262), Chandel (2200), Noney (1046), Tengnoupal (1017), Jiribam (1012), Kamjong (757) and Pherzawl (424).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (597), Imphal East (427), Thoubal (165), Churachandpur (154), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (184), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (29), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 37,426 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,737 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,98,792 tests per million population against the national average of 3,83,183 TPM.

Case fatality rate came down to 1.55 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3282 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.17 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.38 per cent.
