SIR review meetings held in Kakching, Thoubal

Kakching/Thoubal, July 31 2026: Review meetings on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, were held separately in Kakching and Thoubal districts today.

In Kakching, the review meeting was held at the DC Conference Hall under the chairpersonship of Electoral Roll Observer for Kakching district Haobam Rosita, Commissioner (Social Welfare) and Member Secretary, MCPCR .

The meeting was attended by District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Kakching Angeline Renita R, ADM Kakching Ph Bhavananda Sharma, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Election Officer and representatives of various political parties.

At the meeting, political party representatives raised issues concerning submission of documents, discrepancies in names and other matters related to the ongoing SIR .

The respective EROs responded to the queries and grievances, assuring that all issues would be examined and necessary assistance provided to facilitate the revision process.

Haobam Rosita heard the concerns and assured the participants that the issues would be looked into.

She urged officials to ensure that the electoral rolls remain accurate, updated and free from ineligible or duplicate entries, while ensuring that no eligible elector is left out.

Kakching DEO Angeline Renita R appealed to political parties and the public to approach the DEO's office, Election Officer or EROs in case of any issues related to the SIR.

Meanwhile, Electoral Roll Observer for Thoubal district Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Social Welfare), Government of Manipur, reviewed the progress of SIR 2026 at a meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex, Thoubal.

During the interactive session, Robert urged all EROs and AEROs to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll.

Emphasising the Election Commission of India's commitment to maintaining an accurate and inclusive electoral roll, he invited suggestions, queries and grievances from political parties and their representatives.

Representatives of political parties and members of the public raised concerns regarding discrepancies in the names of electors and their relatives, deletion of duplicate entries, timelines for the revision process, electors residing outside the State and other issues related to the SIR.

Robert Kshetrimayum assured the participants that all genuine grievances would be examined and addressed in accordance with the provisions and guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

The Thoubal meeting was attended by District Election Officer and DC Thoubal Yumnam Robita, ADC/ERO-HRK Aribam Amarjit Sharma, EROs, AEROs and representatives of recognised national and State political parties.
