Seminar on Maklang Bihu held

A one-day seminar on "Maklang Bihu Loukon-gi Rampart or Holy Palace of the Chenglei Leipak" was held at Kangla Hall on Monday.
The seminar was jointly organized by Manipur Archaeology Department, Apokpa Research Centre and Bihu Loukon Star Shape and Land Protection Committee Maklang.
The inaugural ceremony of the seminar was attended by MP Dr Th Meinya as the chief guest, Lamshang constituency MLA W Brajabidhu as the president and Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) Th Vikram, Awang Khunou Zila Parishad member, Sericulture Department Director W Ibohal, social worker Dr S ranjan and DDK Imphal Programme Executive Manibabu Likmabam as the guests of honour.
Dr Meinya in his speech on the occasion stated that everybody knows the Maklang' Bihu Loukon Star Shape and expressed the view that people might be curious about the literal meaning of 'Bihu' .
He said that people should be made known to the word Bihu and that some research on it might be done.
Dr Meinya also suggested that the research works on Bihu be uploaded on the internet and underlined the need for frequent media's role in wide scale information sharing on it.
"Let's preserve this heritage site.
I will extend my help in the effort," Dr Meinya assured.
O Kumar, B Kulachandra, Dr Haoba Nonglenkhomba Meitei, Dr Ramshingh, Dr Th Chandramani spoke as resource persons during the seminar which was moderated by Manibabu Likmabam.
