Imphal, March 04 2014 :
Y.Indira, who was lobbying for the BJP ticket in connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency, has today resigned from the party's
primary membership.
Y Indira had unsuccessfully contested against chief minister O Ibobi Singh in Thoubal A/C on BJP ticket in the 2012 assembly election.
Today, while giving her brief note of resignation to the media at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Indira stated that her decision to resign from the party was taken after the party leaders failed to give her a chance to contest in the elections by denying her the ticket.
The party leaders and workers of the BJP had taken the decision, to which she complied, she added.
"It is very unfortunate of the Central BJP leaders for not looking into the matter and affairs of the state", she rues.
Indira had contributed to the BJP party as North East in charge for industries and women.
But the party leaders seem to be unaware of her long suffering and perseverance which she had given, she added.
Indira also wondered why the party approved for giving ticket to RK Ranjan who had earlier been accused of corruption.
Even as she has been denied a ticket by the party, Indira said that she would continue to work for the welfare of the people of the state and fight against corruption.
Meanwhile, president of BJP, Manipur State unit, Th.Chaoba officially announced the two candidates, R..KRanjan and Professor Gangmumei for the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabhan elections for both Inner and Outer Parliamentary constituencies of Manipur at the party's office located at Nityaipat Chuthek here today.
