181 BJP supporters join Congress at Rangkhung

A mass reception programme for new entrants, supporters and workers of the BJP and other political parties was held at Rangkhung Village in Tamenglong district in support of Samuel Jiandai, an intending Indian National Congress (INC) candidate from the 53-Tamenglong (ST) Assembly Constituency.
The programme witnessed the participation of Congress supporters, party workers and leaders from the 53-Tamenglong and 54-Nungba Assembly Constituencies.
More than 200 vehicles reportedly proceeded in a mass rally from Longmai Common Ground, Noney District Headquarters, to the programme venue at Rangkhung.
The event began with a welcome address by Phungan Phaomei, Working President, District Congress Committee (DCC), Tamenglong, followed by a formal reception of 181 new households head entrants, supporters and workers of the BJP and other parties from Rangkhung Village in support of Samuel Jiandai.
The reception was led by Adai Phaomei, President, DCC Tamenglong, along with other party leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Samuel Jiandai welcomed the new entrants and supporters.
He said that, if elected in the 2027 Assembly election, he would work for the interests of the people of Tamenglong, Noney and the wider Zeliangrongpui region.
He highlighted unemployment, restoration of the District Planning Committee (DPC), inter-village and district connectivity, the prevailing communal situation in Manipur and the forthcoming delimitation exercise as issues requiring attention.
Several village leaders and representatives also addressed the gathering and spoke about developmental issues in their respective areas.
They claimed that their expectations from the existing MLA and other candidates had not been fulfilled and said they had decided to support and work for Samuel Jiandai.
