Mass testing, vaccination drives continue
104 new cases detected in IW, contact tracing planned

Imphal, June 11 2021:
A total 104 persons were found infected with Covid-19 on Friday out of 1755 samples tested at 20 different sites in continuation of the mass testing drive in Imphal West district.
As per report received from the Imphal West district administration, nine positive cases were detected out of 141 samples tested at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai, 21 out of 97 at Konjeng Leikai Lamdong, one out of 64 at Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai, three out of 64 at Uripok Bachaspati Leikai, three out of 89 at Uripok Polem Leikai, six out of 120 at Taothong, one out of 111 at Lamdeng, five out of 113 at Khurkhul Makha Leikai, 13 out of 124 at Kanglatongbi, three out of 95 at Awang Khunou, eight out of 110 at Changangei Uchekon, seven out of 86 at Changangei Maning Leikai, 16 out of 94 at Kangmong Tongbram Leikai, two out of 134 at Sanjenbam, two out of 5 at Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, and four out of 147 at Kakwa.
On the other hand, 65 samples were tested at Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai, 31 at Airport and 55 at BRTF Lamphel but no positive cases were detected there.
No samples were tested at TG Higher Secondary School on Friday.
There will be no mass testing on Saturday as the manpower will be engaged in contact tracing of the positive cases detected in the last five days of mass testing, district administration said.
Meanwhile, a mass testing cum vaccination programme for people above the age of 18 years was organised on Friday by Citizens' Club, Soibam Leikai - Wangkhei Khunou in association with Imphal East district administration, CMO and Wangkhei Constituency Covid Committee.
Altogether 105 persons were tested and administered the first dose of Covishield vaccine.
No one was found to have contracted the infectious disease.
Earlier, the Club's Covid team had also arranged vaccination of over 350 persons in addition to sanitising areas under its jurisdiction and distributing medicines, food and other essential items to the families under containment zones.
The Club also expressed gratitude to all the generous donors who extended monetary and emotional support to its initiatives.
