Blood Man of India donates blood at JNIMS, Mission 50 % launched

Prakash M Nadar, popularly known as "The Blood Man of India", donated his blood at JNIMS Blood Centre on Friday to mark the launching of Helping Hands for People (HHP) Manipur's "Mission 50%" .
Prakash, who has been on a three days visit to Manipur, donated blood for the 125th time at the JNIMS Blood Centre.
Apart from being a Paralympic Champion, Prakash has won 10 international and 135 national medals so far.
The launching event of Mission 50 % held at JNIMS Blood Centre on Friday was attended by JNIMS, Medical Superintendent, Dr Lokeshore; JNIMS Blood Bank, HOD, Dr Surjit; National Health Mission, State Nodal Officer, Dr Dayaluxmi and Konthoujam Premjit who has donated blood 80 times.
Speaking on the occasion, HHP Manipur president Premjit Moirangthem said that the contribution of voluntary blood donation is only 30% in the Blood Transfusion Ratio of Manipur.
He asserted that Mission was launched with the aim to increase the contribution of voluntary blood donation by 50%.He appealed to all the Government & Non-Government Blood Centres, State Blood Transfusion Council, State Blood Cell, National Health Mission, Voluntary Blood Donors' Organization and youths of the State to provide their cooperation and support in making Mission 50% a success.
Later, Prakash visited Babina Blood Centre, Khabeisoi and met with the centre's HOD, Dr Bijoy and staff.
He also visited the only Apheresis Room of the State located at Shija Blood Centre, Langol.
There, Prakash met with the hospital's MD, Dr Palin; Blood Centre, HOD, Dr Rajmani; MO, Dr Hemabati and other staff.
After reaching Imphal on August 8, Prakash also met with differently abled blood donor Waikhom Monalisa at Wangkhei.
