Make schemes, policies fruitful: Radheshyam

Labour and Employment Minister Th Radheshyam has called for firm commitment to ensure that the goals of the various programmes/initiatives and schemes that are being rolled out by the Government materialise.
The Minister opined that no welfare programmes or initiatives can be considered as fruitful if nothing is seen at the ground reality.
He was speaking as the chief guest in the Apparel and Garment Day which held today at Manipur Trade & Expo Centre, Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Imphal West as part of the ongoing Manipur International Textile Expo (MANITEX) 2018.Observing that there is a lack of sustenance or follow up action in the long run while taking up any initiative in the State, Radheshyam pointed out that most developmental activities begin with full vitality and enthusiasm, but ends lack lustre sooner or later.
He stated that proper road maps and long term strategies are a must for the successful implementation of any project or initiative and added that honest and sincere efforts are needed for any work/initiative to achieve its stated objectives.
Stressing on uplifting women and'society, the Minister contended that improving the economic condition of women is the key to empowering women.
Delivering presidential speech at the function, Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (MHHDC) Limited, Manipur Chairman S Rajen Singh conveyed that curtailing dependency culture of Manipuri society on imported products is also an objective of organizing MANITEX 2018.He claimed that the Government has taken up welfare programmes for the weavers in die State, including opening of yarn shops at multiple locations where weavers can get yarns at subsidized rate or avail the home delivery service of yarns.
Rajen said that the Government has also introduced a scheme in which weavers can borrow yarns from MHHDC for starting weaving occupation and later adjust the same from the cost of their finished products by selling it to the same Government agent/office.
A unit of Panthoibi Emporium store was also recently opened at Agartala to enhance the sale of handlooms and textiles products of the State to other States, he added.
Principal Secretary (Textiles, Commerce and Industries) P Vaiphei pointed out that handlooms and textiles products are closely linked to the State's identity.
He went on to opine that making the handloom products diversified and extensive through export will boost the State's economy.
Vaiphei also informed that the measure of introducing power looms in the State was taken up after considering how the benefits of power looms can be reaped without giving any negative impact to the traditional looms.
The handloom products should be made special to the customers while the common products or products for mass consumption should be produced in large scale.
Supplying the uniforms of all the uniformed services (private sectors included) in the State will go a long way towards utilising power looms in the right way, he opined.
Chingai A/C MLA Khashim Vashum, Directorate of Handloom and Textiles, GoM Director Lamlee Kamei also attended the function as guests of honor.
Apart from launching the school uniforms produced by Apparel and Garment Making Centre Unit-3, two memorandum of agreements (MoAs) were also signed between multiple groups/agents during the function.
The first MoA was inked between MHHDC and Apparel & Garment Making Centre Unit-3 for selling the finished products of the lalter company by the former corporation.
The other MoA was signed between KB Philanthropy - 5, Khabam Lamkhai and Apparel & Garment Making Centre Unit-3 for buying the essential fabrics in apparel and garment making of the latler company from the former company.
Many resource persons also delivered speeches on various topics in the technical session which was held earlier on the day.
