Covid claims two, infects 27

Imphal, January 05 2022: A fully vaccinated person was among two death cases reported on Wednesday taking the toll from Covid-19 in the state to 2008.The two victims were residents of Imphal West and Kakching districts.

Meanwhile, government bulletins reported 27 fresh cases of Covid-19 out of 1962 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 1.38 per cent compared to Tuesday's 1.56 per cent.

With the discharge of only 14 patients from home isolation (2), RIMS (1), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (6) in the last 24 hours, the active caseload rose to 268 out of which 45 (16.79 per cent) are in home isolation.

Out of the 16 districts, six reported fresh Covid cases on Wednesday.

So far, the state has recorded 96,505 positive cases and 1634 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month has reported 117 new positive cases and 6 fatalities.

The weekly number of new cases and fatalities have rose to 144 and 6 respectively.

According to official reports, 19 people (7 male & 12 female) out of the 27 fresh cases are from among the general population and 8 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at JNIMS (2) and other testing centres (25) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (2), Imphal West (9), Ukhrul (1), Jiribam (1), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (5) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,905 (general population - 1,21,451 and CAPF personnel - 4,454) .

Number of recovered cases is 1,23,629 (general population - 1,19,200 and CAPF personnel - 4,429) .

The recovery rate is 98.19 per cent.

A total of 214 D-type and 64 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 4229 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,30,162 out of which 9,96,654 have been fully vaccinated.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,198), Imphal East (27,981), Thoubal (9513), Churachandpur (10,201), Kangpokpi (2794), Tamenglong 3284), Bishnupur (9247), Senapati (2253), Ukhrul (3001), Kakching (6457), Chandel (2369), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1079), Jiribam (1031), Kamjong (957) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (674), Imphal East (480), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (63), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44) Kakching (116), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,575 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 25,005 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,73,268 tests per million population against the national average of 4,88,281 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 1962 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.38 per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.57 per cent.
