Human chain formed to back ST demand

Imphal, January 04 2023: Continuing to exert pressure on the state government for sending the requisite recommendation to the Centre for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list of Indian Constitution, Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) in coordination different organisations of Nambol area formed human chain in front of Nambol Keithel on Wednesday.

Volunteers of Nambol Apunba Nupi Lup, DPUVO Nambol, STDCM, Bishnupur district branch and women vendors of Nambol Keithel joined the protest.

Nambol Apunba Nupi Lup general secretary Khwairakpam Premila told media persons that the protest was staged in support of the dem and being raised by STDCM for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list of Indian Constitution.

She urged the state government to send the Required recommendation for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list to the Centre while reminding all concerned that the community was earlier listed in ST list.

During the protest, several slogans in support of inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list were raised.
