Buyer Seller Meet kicks off

A 4-days long Buyer Seller Meet organised by the Manipur Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd (MHHDC) began today at its complex in Paona Bazar under the theme, "Policy for use of Handlooms & Handicrafts products in Government Offices & Establishments".
Speaking on the occasion, MHHDC, Managing Director, E Jeeten said that to promote local handloom and handicraft products, the State Government had mandated all Government offices & institutions to use indigenous products wherever possible.
He asserted that MHHDC as an implementing agency has not been able to meet the demands of local handloom & handicraft products for use in Government offices and institutions.
"MHHDC will be implementing a Use And Procurement Policy through District officials soon.
Therefore, it is important for local weavers to produce items/products required by the corporation", he added.
He appealed to the local artisans/weavers to diversify their work and produce a large quantity of home furnishing items and other products needed for offices/ institutions The Managing Director also highlighted the various schemes and programmes initiated by the Government including the Chief Minister Yam Scheme for the welfare of local weavers & artisans.
MHHDC, General Manager, Th Basanta and Mutua Museum, Director; Mutua Bahadur along with entrepreneurs & weavers from Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts also attended the event.
