Churachandpur to observe Switch-Off Hour as part of Sustainable Lifestyle Week

CCpur, November 01 2026: Churachandpur district will observe a Switch-Off Hour from 1 pm to 2 pm on November 2, and offices, institutions, and establishments have been advised to switch off non-essential electrical equipment during the said hour.

The measure is part of the "Save Energy" theme of BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week, being observed from November 1 to 7 .

Essential and emergency services, including hospitals and water-supply services, may continue operating to the extent necessary to maintain service delivery.

The BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week began on November 1 with activities focused on healthy lifestyles.

The programme continues with water conservation, sustainable food, reducing single-use plastics, reducing e-waste and waste reduction.

Planned activities include promoting the Mission LiFE pledge, yoga and walkathons; raising awareness about rainwater harvesting and conducting water audits; reducing food waste and encouraging composting; promoting reusable bags and bottles; supporting responsible e-waste disposal; and holding community clean-ups and waste segregation activities.

The BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week activities are being coordinated with the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan calendar, which runs from October 17 to November 17, 2026 .
